West Virginia offers a variety of gaming options. It became a member of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA) in order to compete against markets in other states and make the WV casinos online even stronger and more appealing. But unless operators provide poker in West Virginia, gamers can’t take part.

John Myers, executive director of the West Virginia Lottery, discussed the launch schedule.

The following gaming verticals will be available in WV once it goes live:

  • Online casinos;
  • Daily fantasy sports;
  • Online sportsbooks;
  • WV online poker.

Poker Businesses are Launching Slowly in WV

West Virginia became the fifth state to formally join the MSIGA in November of last year. The remaining four states are:

  • Delaware;
  • Nevada;
  • Michigan;
  • New Jersey.

The state requires an operator to first create a poker platform before it may take part. Myers had anticipated a disclosure during Q1, but it doesn’t seem probable at all.

According to Myers, as of right now, they have other priorities.

Myers said that any operator may launch an online poker room. He just had conversations with many providers. In essence, all he can obtain from them is that there will be a launch later this year. According to Myers, WV will see a modest increase in income from online poker.
