According to the most recent revenue report, December income from both brick-and-mortar and internet casinos in West Virginia decreased month over month.

In December, the Mountaineer State’s retail casinos generated $7.04 million in income. Online casino gambling brought in $10.2 million.

West Virginian internet casinos had a small month-to-month decline in revenue. Online gaming income in November totaled $10.3 million, or $50,800 more than it did in December.

The amount wagered in West Virginia’s online casinos also decreased by nearly $10.5 million. West Virginians wagered $300.6 million on gambling in December. Prior to this month, players wagered $311.1 million.

In December alone, winners received payouts totaling $290.3 million from West Virginia online casinos. This amount is lower than November’s results by about $10.47 million.

The West Virginia online gambling market demonstrated favorable growth from December 2022 compared to December 2021, despite a month-to-month decline in handle and revenue.

West Virginians wagered $223.8 million in 2021 at online casinos. The handle for December 2022 indicates a significant increase of around $76.77 million.

Revenue from year to year increased as well, which is excellent news for the state’s gaming industry. According to the most recent data, sales for December 2022 will be about $3 million higher than the $6.9 million from December 2021.

It shouldn’t be a surprise given the industry’s rising year-over-year figures in West Virginia. The state’s online casino industry is still expanding and giving gamblers additional alternatives.

Play’n GO obtained a Mountaineer State online gambling license in the latter part of December. Play’n GO, one of the biggest providers of online slot machines in the world, offers titles like Book of Dead and Reactoonz among others.

Play’n GO CCO Magnus Olsson said it’s fantastic to be able to conclude the year by obtaining a license because West Virginia’s regulated iGaming industry is booming.
