Some European–style tables also offer the La Partage rule, whereby betting on an even–money bet such as red or black, players will receive half their bet back in the event of landing on the zero. This will further reduce the house edge, but be sure to check with your table provider.
French Roulette
French roulette is probably the most player–friendly type of roulette available. With similarities to European roulette but with two special rules, French roulette typically offers the highest return–to–player available in live table roulette games in New Jersey.
The first variation is the la partage rule stated above. This roulette is only present on European and French–style tables but check with your casino first.
The second variation is the slightly more complicated and rarer En Prison rule. When this rule is active, if the ball lands on zero, the player's bet will go 'into prison' until the next spin. If the following spin results in what would have been a win for the bet in prison, the player will receive the stake back. If the second spin would result in a loss, it goes to the house.
Only one of these two rules is present at any one time on French roulette tables.
